The beaches

In the estuary of the Rio Arade is the extensive, fine sandy beach PRAIA GRANDE, which is separated from the open sea by the pier. On this beach you will find a playground, various sports facilities, sun loungers for hire and several restaurants/beach bars. Very recommendable is the beach bar on the left side of the beach KALU and on the right side of the beach ESCONDIDINHO
Directly at the mouth of the river, there is a pier and a small beach, this side beach is called PRAIA DO MOLHE.

Further on you will reach the PRAIA DO PINTADINHO, which is located just outside the pier and is often visited by locals. On this  beach you will also find a restaurant/beach bar and is about 1.5 kilometres from the centre of the village. Here the locals take the anual new years day dive on 1st of January.

One of the most beautiful beaches is the PRAIA DOS CANEIROS, about 2.5 kilometres from the centre of Ferragudo. There you will find the pronounced rocky coves that are so typical of this coast. Sun beds can be rented here and the beach bar/restaurant is highly recommended.
Especially in the evening you can enjoy an unforgettable sunset with culinary delights.

Not to be forgotten are the impressive cliff walks along the coast, which should be done early in the morning if possible. Especially recommended is the hike from PRAIA DOS CANEIROS left towards CARVOEIRO. The hike always leads along the coast, passing beautiful bays and landscapes. Solid footwear (e.g. sports shoes) is  recommended. The duration is about 2.5 hours. In CARVOEIRO you can then recharge your batteries and make your way back on foot or use a cheap taxi.
